Hi Everyone,
I purchased some wide mouth mason jars just because they are so easy to
clean. I have pretty big hands but I can easily put my hand and wash cloth
all the way to the bottom with plenty of room for scrubbing action. A couple
of seconds and they are sparkling clean - can't do that with any other jars!
I also wait 2 or 3 times before I clean them. But I do take a napkin and
wipe off the neck after I've strained.
I stir with a nonmagnetic iced tea spoon. This keeps the neck cleaner than
shaking. I also strain with a slotted spoon (Janet suggested that to me when
she first sent me her grains). With the wide mouth jars, you can put the
spoon down into the jar and lift the grains out and into a fresh jar. This
is what I do if I've made a full jar of Kefir. I'm the only one drinking
(and eating the grains) so it gets ahead of me. On those days I put some of
the grains into the blender and cut back on the amount of milk I culture.
For anyone who wants to know - I purchased them (about $8 + shipping from:

BTW thanks for all the suggested uses and procedures everyone is sharing!
