Re: Kefir eating sugar?
Heidi,

Thanks. I never thought about sugar being converted to alcohol - duh! No
wonder the dogs enjoy breakfast so much - what a way to start the day! Wag
wag slurp!!

Maybe if I left the top off the container the alcohol would evaporate? (Not
that I want to spoil their fun or anything)...

Linda and the K9's "hic!"

The yeast would turn the sugar into alcohol, most likely, which wouldn't be
much of an improvement. Or maybe it would, from the dog's point of view? My
(unscientific) experiments with sugar and kefir seem to indicate that the
yeast digest sucrose faster than the lactobacilli do, so it goes alcoholic
more than it goes sour.
