The kefir grains will make a different fermentation
out of your milk which is a complete benefit to your
health compared to yogourt of buttermilk. If you can
get grains then go ahead and use them for your health.
They will improve your life immensely :)

Hi everyone. I was introduced to kefir by my wife who
is from Ukraine.
Its a popular drink throughout eastern europe and I
instantly loved it
since I already loved buttermilk.
In doing some reading, it sounds as if Kefir is
similar to buttermilk.
Am I correct? Homemade buttermilk is made in a similar
way as kefir-
introducing some active agents into milk and letting
sit for 12-24
hours. With buttermilk, I add some cultered buttermilk
to some whole
milk and in no time ive got a new batch of buttermilk.
Kefir, you
introduce some kefir grains with milk and wait. Same
process, little
bit different ingredients.
Is kefir a form a buttermilk, or buttermilk a form a
kefir? OR there
is a general term for these types of drinks?
Where in the USA can I get kefir grains?
Until I get my hands on some kefir grains, can I make
kefir by adding
some already made kefir to milk and waiting as I do
with buttermilk?
Or do I need to use kefir grains.
Thanks!
