Re: Peace petition
Tom, I'm basing my comment upon the last 70 years (at a minimum) of US
foreign and domestic policy, of which the following is just a handful:

-US support of any old dictatorship which was anti-communistic, even if it
was exploitive of its own people and the environment.

-US training of assassins in'The School of the Americas'.

-US support of oil companies and suppression of clean, renewable energy.

-US support of oil companies and a medical model based upon oil-derived
drugs and illness rather than upon promoting positive good health.

-US agencies secretly promoting and benefiting from the drug trade while
publically proclaiming 'The War On Drugs'.

-'US support of 'defense' industries and selling arms to both sides of
conflicts.

-US support of multinational corporations which are fed by wars.

-US neglect of real needs of the people of our country and of other
countries .

An aside -- The people accused of the Twin Towers tragedies were very
selective in their murdering. They were not killing Americans whenever and
wherever possible. There are many ways they could have caused the deaths of
many more of us, so I don't see that as their aim. I see striking terror in
our hearts and causing us to think may have been among their aims.

I feel genuine safety comes only with the lack of enemies. There is much the
US can do to right the injustices we have supported and to turn enemies into
trusting friends.

Namaste! ~ Jean
