I am very familiar with Dr. Mercola. I subscribe to his on line
newsletter! He does not LIKE or approve of Splenda, but if you think
he is hard on IT, look up Aspartame! It actually IS a very effective
ant killer! Which really is not particularly significant, if you know
HOW it kills ants. It is only the "sweet eating" ants that "fall for"
the fake sugars. It is the sweet taste that dooms them, though - - -
since neither of the artificial sweeteners are digestible at all, that
fact kills the ants that eat it, and those that eat it after it has
been brought into the ant nest. In effect, they just starve to death.
They starve when their little ant tummies are full of what THEY
thought (if you can think of an ant actually THINKING, when you
consider the microscopic brain.) was good sweet sugar. It isn't, but
they have no way of knowing that.
But, don't use ANY artificial sweeteners against the "fat eating" ants,
because they will not eat them. They only eat fat. The artificial
sweeteners taste sweet, and they just don't eat sweet things.
