For milk kefir you need the grains. They will grow and you will have a endless
supply. If you don't want to make kefir for awhile they store great in the
fridge. The store bought kefir will not last. You should try viili. It doesn't
change the milk flavor much, but it will thicken it almost overnight. The great
part is all you do is add a teaspoon from your start to however much you want to
make and it is done usually overnight, check it and when it is thick put it in
the fridge. When the start is low add milk to it let it sit out and when it is
thick put back in the fridge. A new starter ready to go. I mix vanilla and sugar
in it and it taste just like vanilla yogurt. The kids even like it . I can send
you a start if you want. I also have a extra grain of milk kefir also. Let me
