Re: Re: Newcomer asking for advice on material for Pouches
Dear Janet - what a lovely in depth explanation - most appreciated.

I have smallish grains I would think but not having seen any others am not
sure. I use 1/2 fat milk because that is what my sheet told me to use (it
said no full cream milk) I kept it in a cupboard so it was in the dark and I
made it in a kilner jar (pickling jar) everything that it told me to do I did
including rinsing it under cold water! I did not use any metal on it, I did
not use a pouch because I had not heard of that then. Perhaps using water on
them is the problem and the person who passed them on to me also used water
so they have lost something along the way. I have removed some of the grains
to use for water kefir and have the others in milk, (will get some full cream
milk) which I will keep replacing and not washing the grains just to see what
happens - will let you know. I have now also got myself some Kombucha
culture which is also said to be extremely beneficial.......

Regards
Marianne
