For the Tibicos, I'm wondering if brown sugar is the answer.   When I first
had mine they doubled in size in 3 weeks, but then I ran out of brown sugar
and used white instead and they don't seem to have grown much.   They don't
seem as lively, although they "hang" at different levels in the jar, but do
not go up and down on the gas bubbles as they did before.    I suggest you
try using brown sugar or molasses and see if there is any change ;-)   Oh
and another thing to do is to use a fine mesh sieve to catch all the babies
which lurk in the sediment on the bottom of the jar!
