Most any Hdwe or store that sells housewares, Wal Mart, Fred Myers, etc
have different sizes of STAINLESS STEEL strainers with plastic rims and
handles. I got a nice on at a Fred Myers Store and the label has to say
STAINLESS STEEL strainer, a mesh wire.
These clean great and i put mine in dishwasher also.
I use it for Kefir and use a large plastic stirring spoon to stir my Kefir
beforew straining and during fermentaion. This I find helps to separat4e
the grains so they get fresh milk around them while firmenting also i found
helps for them to grow faster and more grains. They will be smaller than on
big lump but I have about 1 cup now again and so will take some out and
spread to friends.
I had a friend I asked today how they were doing twith the Kefir. Well,
he says I forgot to strain then grains and we put them in blender with our
juice and the Kefir and it sure was good. Then after that I remembered I
was supose to strain them. I was too embarased to tell you how stupid i
was. So they been a whole 6 weeks with inly 1 batch of that good stuff.
So they will get another starter and strain it.
The strainer I got will hold a qt of Kefir with the grains and as it drains
I finishe a little that is left in jar. I set it over a large plastic COOL
WHIP container which just right size for it.
I lift it out and set it to finish draining into a 2nd same size container.
Works great.
If you don't have a bowl that size then that would be a way to go.
