Hi Mr Chapman ESQ:
Mould loves Sprouts! You need to clean out the Grower with Russian
Penicillin, or just something like Clorox. or Hydrogen per Oxide. Once the
mould is gone, then the Sprouts smell normal again! See your sprouter is
full of mould spores, and these need to be cleaned away!
Alfred!

Great! I LOOOOOVE sprouts (yeah, radish). I have the 9" (?) plastic sprouter
common in the US, and I grow them on the counter, next to the sink. BUT, I
ve stopped, because every time I grow them, they smell like dirt, and a bit
musty. While I like the smell of a well-made soil, I don't want my food to
smell like, again, dirt :P
Any tips?

Hi Jane,
Sprout is my middle name. That makes me Marilyn Sprout Kefirlady. Holy cow!
I love talking about sprouts. I have every sprouter they make and know which
ones work for which seeds. I have two different automatic sprouters and have
a favorite. I have made my own sprouters for pennies that work just as well
as commercial ones and sometimes better. I grew 10# of oat grass every day
last winter to feed to my cow. It is a 10 day process so I needed 80 cat
litter pans and had to make several misting systems on homemade shelves.
Please don't tell me I am wacko. I already know that and have earned my
Wacko Certificate already. Be very specific when asking about sprouting
because I could write a book and I don't have time now. Tell me what kind of
sprouts you want to grow and I can make a recommendation.
Marilyn,
who doesn't eat too many sprouts herself but grows them for the critters:
one cow, four goats, many chickens, one iguana, one tortoise, two bearded
dragons, one guinea pig, quail, guineas, mice. I think that about covers it.
