First of all, goats are social animals. One goat would be a lonely,
unhappy nanny. Goats have to be surrounded by their families..
sisters, daughters, aunts and family friends.

Additionally, you can't count on one goat to be fresh all the time.
At some point, each nanny should be dried off, and given a break.
They are generally allowed to breed.

Dairy goats are bred in fall for spring kid deliveries. Some of the
nannies are kept fresh all winter, bred the following year.

Milk can also be frozen in a deep freeze for times of no milk.

While I technically have plenty of space for nannies, I don't want
the job of milking them twice a day.
About an acre of land per goat.

living arrangments for the goat. THanks Joan

Depends a lot on what forrage they can get on your property. If you
rotate them around on the fields, they can be very inexpensive to
feed.
