Re: Tranlucent Kefi grains arrived hooray!!!
Sorry I didn't respond for so long. My computer crashed and I am
currently using a 486 running at a whopping 33 Mhz with only 20 megs
of drive space left out of 160 megs for cache space and all the rest
used for just Win95, IE5.5 and Outlook5. Just barely enough to get on
the internet and read personal emails.

To get on with it, my water kefir grains are not growing either, but
I do know that I have lost some to accidental spillage, and I also
know that they make teeny tiny itsy bitsy little babies that can fall
through mm holes. I have taken to letting them settle on the bottom
of the jar and I never pour the last third of the brew out. If the
grains are making itsy bitsy teeny tiny babies then they must grow in
the cloud at the bottom. I would suggest using a very tight bag or do
what I am doing, and don't pour the bottom third. I will let you know
later if they grow.

I have tried them in brown sugar when I ran out of juice but mostly
they are growing in fruit drink mixes which already have a high sugar
count. I recently put them in straight orange juice and they had a
real ball so it would appear they need the nutrients from it. I plan
to try grape juice for a while and see if it nourishes them better.

Forgive me in advance if I don't respond to any posts in the future.
I just can't creep along fast enough on this dinosaur.
