Greetings all --
I just had a quick question about my milk grains. They seem to be
perfectly healthy - they are white and fluffy, and are incredibly
prolific ... but I have noticed recently that there is a sort of slime
that comes off the grains when I spoon them back into the jar. It's a
very thin "slime" that will stretch very far (to the point where it is
as thin as a spiders-web). The quality of kefir is still extremely
good - good taste, it is thick and creamy, highly carbonated, etc.
Has anyone else run into this phenomena? I'm not too worried as their
health doesn't seem to be deteriorating, but i thought I'd just check.
They have had this issue for about a month now and are continuing to
grow (faster than ever). I do have more grains in the jars than I
should, but I will split them again this weekend for some friends.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Kyle
(Sorry if this issue has been discussed to death in the past ... the
search function is pretty terrible on this board, so i have a hard
time sorting through back-posts without spending an eternity.)
