Hello kefir-arteests,
A few members have asked if one may use milk straight out of the fridge to
kefirarize.
Yes, cold milk may be added to kefir grains. Although the milk may be warmed
to just below body heat before adding to the grains. This would be how the
people of Caucasus made (make) their kefir... warm fresh milk would be
added to the grains in leather bags (gourd). Although if the milk is not
fresh, then I am not sure if warming the milk would be recommended.
Some members have also asked about washing kefir grains between each milk
change. Please read this:

In a nut shell; under most circumstances, there's no need to wash kefir
grains. Washing the grains may be performed when dehydrating the grains as a
back-up source, or when sending dehydrated grains by post etc.
Bewell,
Dom
