hi all,
I'm new to the group and have been reading here and making water
kefir for just over 2 weeks now.
These are grains from Dom and I have been making a ginger, bee
pollen brew with 1/2 c sugar, 1/2 lemon and 2 figs and ginger,
sitting for 2 days.
I was a little worried about the yeast smell from the brew (it
smelled like rising bread), but continued drinking thinking that the
good culture outnumbered the bad yeasts. Well, last week I
developed mastitis (I'm nursing a 7 mo. old and I have a 4 yr. old,
so I am tired!) then this week, I've begun to notice a yeast like
infection starting and today, I'd say it is definately full blown,
itching and burning : ( Why has this happened? I have not changed
my diet since starting the kefir. I had over come candidia awhile
ago only to have this full blown return. Kefir was supposed to
improve my health, not worsen it right?
I can't take milk kefir as I'm very sensitive to dairy protein. I'm
worried about culturing coconut milk. Won't it be yeast ridden too?
